WMD Part I by G-gnome Joining Together

Joining Together

An early test of the idea shows the process fairly clearly:

A flanged end section, drilled to 8mm.

Short sections of threaded tube were hammered into each hole.

The end cover shows how the holes line up. To finish off, each end of the threaded tube had a modified Armor Ring placed over it, and a very short (12mm total length) M5 countersunk socket-head screw was screwed into each end of the threaded tube to hold the rings on and securely join the pieces together.

It was a bit of a convoluted solution, but it gave me a unique, modern industrial look to the joins in the case.

Much better than a hex bolt!

Some people thought I used a crazy amount of fasteners in my last mod - some 400+ in total for Orac³. In this mod they are less obvious, but I estimate I'll be using a similar number of nuts, bolts, screws and washers throughout!
